June was an exceptionally busy month for the Embrace child sponsorship program. We celebrated the second quarter of birthdays; honoring the children who have birthdays during the months of April, May and June. Cake and refreshment were served to everyone to enjoy. We sang to the birthday children, prayed over them, gave them a small toy and those with an active sponsor received a coupon to use at the ministry’s clinic’s store.
Our monthly “talk” was about the “Rights and Obligations” of children and parents; sharing the need to provide a loving family atmosphere, education, supporting the family structure etc. The Bible devotion was taken from Romans 5:8 in sharing the basic salvation message.
Our “Garden in a Bags” were distributed to every Embrace family. This gives 8 kinds of vegetable seeds to the family to plant a home garden. Training was given last month and they were to have a place prepared to plant. The rainy season has begun which will make the care of these gardens much easier. Some fertilizer, bug control and shading cloth will optimize the gardens’ success. We like to encourage family participation in projects that help a family to be more sustainable. Vegetables are expensive to buy and out of the reach for most of our families; so, these gardens will provide a lot of healthy food for the families’ use.
We are so thankful to our sponsors for stepping up to make the MYB (Middle of the Year Blessing) a success once again this year. Funding came in to allow every Embrace child to receive a pair of new shoes and 3 pairs of socks. Families chose the style (tennis, school, sandals, high boots, low boots) in June and were sized for shoes. The orders will be placed and the shoes will be ready to hand out to the children at the July meetings. Having a sturdy pair of shoes for the children is a huge blessing and we are so happy that no child will be excluded!
I just completed my southern fundraising trip in the US. A lot of Embrace brochures were picked up. We are hopeful that many of these brochures will be used for selecting a child to sponsor; to begin the process of helping a child to improve in the nutritional levels and overall health. We continue to believe that we will increase our sponsor enrollment by 50 new sponsors this year. This will impact the lives of 50 children and their families! Can you help us to reach this goal?
