- * This designates a pastor's child. Recognizing that pastors earn very little, we allow pastors (outside of Servant Ministries) to register a child into Embrace...even when they are not malnourished but in a way to help them.
- ** This designates that this child has a special kind of malnourishment that is not reflected on our board that we use for monitoring the children.
- *** This designates that this child has lost their sponsor and is in need of another sponsor to "complete the process". They may not be as poor in their nutritional evaluation, but they are not ready to graduate out of the program.

How Sponsorship Works
Embrace Child Sponsorship is a unique ministry program that connects malnourished children in need with compassionate sponsors like you! Becoming a sponsor means giving Guatemalan children the chance to grow up healthy, educated and safe – forever changing their life and future.
When you become a child sponsor, your donation goes directly to the child you sponsor making a huge impact on the life of that child and the family! You just might find that it changes you, too.
- A welcome email package, including a photo and information about the child you sponsor.

Other Frequently Asked Questions About Child Sponsorship
Beginning January 1, 2024 sponsorship is $50 per month, which includes transportation. Protein can be added for an additional $10 per month.
Your sponsorship is truly an investment in children’s lives and futures!
Yes! Many of our sponsors like to give extra. Twice a year, with the extra offering the kids are given a $150 coupon for the store for:
- Birthday gift
- Christmas gift
Embrace has also developed a list of essential items that can be added as a one-time gift to your child:
- Eco Stove
- Rain Barrel
- Latrine
Many sponsors do this as their Christmas gift to their child. Look for an email with details about purchasing these essential items for your sponsor child.
You will receive an annual, sometimes semi-annual email update with your Sponsor Child’s health data along with a photo.
Child sponsorship is a voluntary, ongoing contribution. You decide how long you’re able to help. Children remain in the program for 3-5 years, graduating out to make room for new incoming Children.
Unfortunately no. Because there is no mail system in Guatemala and the complexity of translating messages Embrace cannot accommodate personal letters.
YES! Join one of the Short-Team trips that can be found on Servant Ministries website. An optional highlight of nearly every trip is the Embrace “Adopt-A-Child” activity. At this activity, your Sponsor Child will be invited to attend and you will have the opportunity to spend part of a day playing games, doing crafts, swimming, shopping, and having lunch.
Sometimes, sponsors finish off their day by doing a “home visit” with their child and family. This is a truly enlightening experience that will allow you to see first-hand how the family lives and to see the difference that you are making in their lives, as a sponsor!
How To Sponsor A Child
- 1. If you have selected a particular child that you would like to sponsor, then email nancy@servantministries.net,include the code number, name of the child and your intent to sponsor. Your child will be placed on “hold” on while we await your payment.
- 2. Decide whether you will be providing the basic benefits or want to add the protein and/or transportation package to your monthly sponsorship.
- 3. Send your first payment(s) to the Michigan office. Checks should be made payable to “Embrace” and sent to: Servant Ministries PO Box 596073 Fort Gratiot, MI 48059 (Make sure you have the child's name and code number on the memo line.)
- 4. The child will begin to receive their benefits after your third payment. Alternatively, you can opt to send in 3 months of payments initially so that the child can begin to receive their benefits as soon as possible. The child will always receive those extra two retroactive months at the end of your sponsorship but it gives a cushion to not interrupt the child receiving their monthly benefits.
- 5. After your payment(s) are received, you will receive communication from our Embrace Communication Coordinator that will give you options for future payments and answer any questions you have in regards to your sponsorship.
